TRAVEL

4 Days In Copenhagen

Finally, I got the chance to visit Copenhagen, one of the most beautifull cities I’ve visited so far and it definitely lived up to all expectations. I travelled with my girlfriend, Maria, for partly a collaboration and partly to celebrate our anniversary :)

It all started with taking the train from Lübeck (Germany) for a direct ride to Copenhagen! Fun fact: the train boards a ship at some point in order to get from Germany to Denmark, which was a first for both of us.

Arrived after about 3,5 hours in the Copenhagen train station and took a taxi to our hotel, Hotel Ottilia, part of the Brochner Group, that were kind enough to offer us a gifted stay and plenty of perks! We quickly checked in and got to our room. It was the Superior Double room with breakfast included at the 4th floor. Beautiful, minimal, industrial with the round window as the main feature, was the perfect room for our stay!

Almost immediatelly after checking in, we headed towards the rooftop restaurant Tramonto which was our breakfast spot as well. Italian staff, italian cuisine, great menu, perfect views, what more can one ask for?

Right after lunch, we made our way to the city center for our first walk around! We rode on scooters, since we didn’t want to walk or take a taxi, which gave us the perfect opportunity to experience the city even more. We left our scooters near the train station and walked our way past Tivoli and wandered around the central streets. After a quick snack we made our way to Tivoli, which in my opinion is a must visit sight!

Central Station

Tivoli is a theme park that works year round and gets tons and tons of visitors. Try to avoid Fridays and Saturdays as it gets the most traffic, but most certainly drop by if in Copenhagen. There’s stuff to see, places to get snacks or eat properly, get drinks, play games and lots of beautifully decorated sections where you can walk around. We finished the day with drinks and dinner at the Nimb Hotel, feeling rather exhausted!

Day 2 started with breakfast at the Tramonto rooftop restaurant. So much food! Couldn’t have a better start to the day!

The plan was to then visit the Botanical Gardens and Museums nearby and the weather couldn’t have been better, sunny and warm, perfect day for a walk! The Botanical Gardens were absolutely breathtaking, stunning collection of plantation and the Butterfly and Cactus chambers were our favorite! Although the gardens are free of charge, in order to see the Chambers one must pay a small fee (totally worth it).

A quick visit at the National Museum of Arts came right after the Gardens as well as a walk by the lakes. We then had lunch at Bæst, where I had the best pizza I’ve ever tried in my life (Mozzarella, semi-dried tomatoes & Cinta Senese prosciutto aged for 24 months), unbelievable food! Loved the fact that this restaurant has a ‘dishes to share’ policy, where you order for the table rather than yourself.

Since it was our anniversary, the night was spent with us having dinner and drinks at a wonderful bistro restaurant. No photos were taken, with the intention of simply living the moment!

Day 3 started with the usual breakfast and a photoshooting at the hotel. Then we were off for some of my meetings (gotta combine a bit of work with pleasure) and spent the day doing a bit of shopping and walking around. It rained a bit which was a great excuse to go into shops and malls! Both being extra tired we decided to spend the night back in our room watching some netflix and having dinner in bed.

Day 4 was our last day and after breakfast we headed for our check out. Loved the hospitality and vibe of Hotel Ottilia, great staff, beautiful lobby, wine hour during the afternoon and generally a very pleasant stay, definitely recommended!

Made our way to the train station where we left our luggage in order to explore a bit more of the city before our train left. Our next destination was Nyhavn, with those beautiful colorfull buildings across the canal. Walked our way from one side and came back from the other. The weather was rather gloomy on that day but we were still super hyped! We headed towards the city center for one last walk and made a quick stop at Atelier September for lunch. Final destination the Kinfolk headquarters before we returned to the train station.
